I cannot emphasize this enough: this Supreme Court vacancy means that if either Hillary or Bernie wins the White House (and Democrats take back the Senate), WE CAN OVERTURN CITIZENS UNITED.

Both candidates are publicly committed to appointing a justice who will do just that. For that alone, every Democrat should be prepared to commit to voting for the Democratic nominee, whether it’s your candidate or their opponent.

And on top of that, we can overturn D.C. v. Heller and preserve sensible gun control laws, overturn Shelby County v. Holder and offer stronger protection to voting rights, reopen the courthouse door to people who want to sue businesses that have mistreated them, defend organized labor, strengthen separation of church and state, and stop the conservatives from unwinding affirmative action, immigration reform, President Obama’s climate action and a woman’s right to choose.

WE CAN DO IT. WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY NOW. BUT IT ONLY HAPPENS IF WE COMMIT TO UNITING BEHIND OUR NOMINEE, WHOEVER IT IS.

I cannot possibly express how strongly I feel about this.

To the Bernie Sanders supporters who think Hillary is no different from a Republican, I invite you to spend ten seconds outside of Tumblr’s echo chamber and talk to any real-life Donald Trump or Ted Cruz Republican. One, they will laugh in your face. Two, they will make it REALLY obvious why you should be absolutely willing to vote for Hillary over either of their frontrunners.

I’d say the same thing to Clinton supporters if I thought any of them (other than the OP) were following me.

DO NOT SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE FOOT. DO NOT CUT OFF THE NATION’S NOSE TO SPITE ITS FACE. FIGHT FOR YOUR PREFERRED CANDIDATE, BUT ONCE A NOMINEE HAS BEEN CHOSEN, UNITE BEHIND THAT NOMINEE.
