The author is usually trying to invoke some decadent, drug-fueled sexual escapades done by good-looking rich people and all I can think about is the times when I’ve been to orgies full of (still good looking!) but very nerdy people who occasionally fart and put their elbow into someone by accident or realize they can’t fit half the people they invited onto the only available bed.
So like, I guess I imagine a lot of Victorian people with extremely good mustaches accidentally elbowing each other and being very proper about it?
Not just Victorian-era but most movies I’ve ever seen. I’ve come to think of those scenes as being the (obviously more sexualized) equivalent of childhood fantasies about what grown-up parties are like.
