Hillary giving a speech on economic inequality, wearing a $12,500 Armani coat
đđđ
That coat costs more than a semester at the goddamn University of Minnesota wtf
This Snopes article points out that the issue is a little more complicated. And that make presidential candidates are rarely scrutinized over their wardrobes.
One of the tl;dr points of the Snopes article that should be directed to all the people saying âIt doesnât matter if she paid for it or if it was a gift, she shouldnâtâve worn something so expensive to give a speech on economic inequalityâ is that, hey, she didnâtâthis was from her New York primary victory speech (and, guess what state Giorgio Armani US operation is based out ofâŚnot, of course, that there arenât other designer labels with operations in NY, but this criticism isnât because itâs Armani, itâs because itâs stupidly expensive, so thereâs no designer she could have worn that wouldnât get the same criticismâand, yâknow, if sheâd worn something from, like, Nordstrom or JCPenney, people would be snarking about that, too, no matter where or why she made the appearance. Sorta* like people make fun of Bernieâs normal somewhat rumpled presentation.) ((*But not really.)) ((And of course Tr~mp doesnât get anywhere near giving speeches on economic inequalityâand no-one would believe it if there were a photo of him captioned as doing soâso no-oneâs wondered how expensive his clothes are to try to make a point.))
