OK trying to think of something distracting in a good way…. My brother told me on the weekend that’d he’d taken a friend to a Garlic Festival (the one in Perth, I think), and that at first she’d been dubious, but by the end she was saying “wow, you did not oversell this.” So I asked, jokingly: “were people wearing hats shaped like cloves of garlic?”

“Yes. That’s how you knew which vendors were really committed to their trade.”
