That’s not actually how that law works. the program that allows companies to exploitively pay disabled employees is completely different from the benefits system and disabled people have been lobbying against that law for a long time

(working while on benefits docks some portion of your benefits in proportion with your income, but not all of it, and if you’re capable of making enough money to lose all your benefits – which is what you’re suggesting by saying people are working enough hours that paying minimum wage would get rid of them – you probably aren’t going to be on benefits in the first place)

I’d like to hear more, because I’m not sure I’m following what you’re saying – the fact that people have been lobbying against that law combined with the idea that working-while-on-benefits will dock benefits seems to partially contradict the idea that it’s not how the law works. And while I understand the program that gets people into the jobs may not be affiliated with government disability benefits, it does interplay with them, yes?

I mean, this is not something I have direct experience in, just something I’ve done reading on and encountered via Radio Free Monday, where I’ve known people who lost their benefits because of earning too much or going over the $2K savings limit.

And as anyone who has ever dealt with Disability claims knows, the documentation on it offered by the government is…opaque.

So if I’m not understanding correctly, please do explain, I’d like to have more info.
