I just stumbled upon this trailer for a Hungarian production
of Pirates of Penzance. My favorite
parts are Ruth’s amazing pirate ship hat, the interpretive dancers portraying a
field of grass, and what appears to be an inserted subplot involving the Pirate
King and a mermaid singing songs from HMS
Pinafore.

I’m sad I can’t seem to find any more clips from
this production. (I especially want to hear what the Major-General’s song
sounds like!) Also, the title A királynő kalózai (“The Queen’s Pirates”) seems like a bit of spoiler for the ending plot twist…
