who else gets ashamed when reading posts on tumblr where it’s like, first few ppl agree on one opinion so ur like “ok yea”. then someone points out how wrong they are and bad for thinking that and ur like, “oh shit…. that’s totally true….. what have i done……” bc u inherently agree with ppl and struggle to form ur own opinions
This is a sign of being open-minded and ready to accept new ideas.
It’s not negative. People just glorify being starkly opinionated and unable to change one’s mindset way more than they should. Honestly, if you read one or two tumblr posts and you’re totally convinced of something and would never change your mind after that… that’s a fuckin’ problem.
plus it’s only logical to change your opinion after getting new information
and also being able to immediately pick out the flaws in a statement or argument is an extremely specialized skill that people shouldn’t feel bad if they don’t have all at once? frankly I’ve been training my Skepticism Meter for over 10 years and I still have to pause to shift gears into Wait A Minute What? mode unless something obviously wrong jumps out at me.
