I don’t want to tell anyone how to live their life but as someone who has lived his for 37 years in part by putting words on a screen, let me give you guys two pieces of advice:
1. If you find yourself hitting the tag limit on a tumblr post, consider putting what you’ve put in tags into the post itself where it is legible and rebloggable and you can use commas. I know it’s not as multi-level meta to do so but in addition to making what you say easily rebloggable, a lot of people with visual impairments will be able to read what you say instead of thinking you are being needlessly difficult in the cause of Aesthetic. I’m not saying never use tags, I’m just saying, if you’re writing an essay in the tags, you are the food blogger who writes 3000 words about the nostalgia brought on by fresh rhubarb that nobody reads because they just want the lemon-baked-goat-cheese recipe you promised.
2. If you have to use more than one comment or ask to say a thing in response to someone else’s thing, consider reblogging and commenting in a reblog instead. This way, you don’t look like you’re uttering random non-sequiters to others who can only see the most recent comment, and also you can say everything you wish to say in one place while also using carriage returns and basic markup, which are pleasant and make you easier to understand.
In short – and I say this with as much love and gentleness as I can – if your dialogue on this site requires someone else to copy and paste it in order to respond, you may be making life unnecessarily difficult.
And if you don’t mind that, I’m not gonna fight you, because as previously mentioned I am 37 and thus death is nigh and I don’t have time for that. I’m just suggesting that being easily readable raises your odds of being read.
