it’s that time again!
City Club of Portland is having ANOTHER anti-trafficking forum, a circle jerk of rich conservatives, the DA and cops, and the batshit hateful (Sam Berg, she of That Article from a few weeks ago, you know the one, and if you don’t, be grateful; Joel Shapiro from Shared Hope International, a rescue NGO that’s tied to Columbia Sportswear at a few levels) come together to spread misinformation and rank fear in order to drum up support for tighter measures against strippers, strip clubs, and all other sex workers.
highlights in the past have included: Strip clubs are where traffickers bring children to be broken; children* going to the legislature to beg that all strip clubs be closed so they aren’t trafficked; “how to tell a trafficking victim: long nails, acrylics, a weave, shots of luxury goods on social media”; “how to tell a trafficker: lipstick tattoo and shots of money on social media”; and a hilarious denial that GLOBAL stats on exploited labour have any relation to the realty in Oregon.
rather than listen to this bullshit, let’s demand real solutions to exploitation and poverty.
