I think there’s a lot of stigma, silence, and lack of support for people who decide to stop identifying as transgender and/or de-transition, except from shitty people who want to use those peoples’ experiences for their own transphobic agendas.

Do what you’ve got to do, my guys. If being honest with yourself means changing your mind, that’s okay. You’re not beholden to anything or anyone. Don’t feel as though you’re betraying a cause or validating transphobia. Don’t feel guilty for having doubts or second-guessing yourself – the end goal is for you to feel comfortable in your own skin. Shit’s complicated. You don’t have to answer to anyone.

plus it’s not always changing your mind – sometimes things just change. the “born this way” narrative is only one possible story. maybe you were legitimately whatever gender for whatever time period, and now you are a different one.

changing your mind is valid, just not the only possibility here.

Whatever your story, let’s make an effort in 2017 to ensure that people who decide to detransition are supported in their personal choices by people other than TERFs and company.
