Business should provide menstruation  hygiene products along with hand soap and toilet paper in their restrooms.

It’s a matter of public health.

What’s great about this post is at almost 5k notes, the only reason anyone can give for why menstruation products shouldn’t be provided in restroom when toilet paper is “Well, cis men don’t use them, so no.”

Which, like, thanks for pointing out the blatant sexism, friends.

Maybe the answer you are looking for is that these things are too expensive, which is a problem.

While tampons can be an expense for an individual:

  • Businesses can buy them in bulk, making them exponentially cheaper
  • Many businesses already do this and are doing fine. No business has gone under because they put a box of pads in the restroom.

They’re already cheap. I get my missus a $2 pack when needed and they last her the month. Seriously, that’s like what, $24 a year? Wow, you’re truly so oppressed in society. $24, how is it that not every woman is bankrupt at that price?

It’s at the business’s discretion. Toilet paper is universal and needed pretty much every day, while sanitary pads are just for women, needed for a few days every month, and comes in different strengths(?) and physical forms.

Anybody who’s even the tiniest bit self-respecting knows when they’re expecting their period. Just carry around a pad, shove it in a purse or something, keep it in your car, whatever.

There’s no expense. If you’re struggling to buy tampons/pads, then you’ve got bigger problems than that.

Why should it be at the business’ discretion? Why should they not be required to provide menstruation products? They provide soap and paper towels, why not these products?

Because freedom that’s why you authoritarian freak.

Businesses shouldn’t be required to provide anything for free.

So….we should do away with the laws that require businesses to provide toilet paper and hand soap?

Why not force them to give people free food? Food is more important than feminine products. If you can justify forcing them to give away free things that are not needed to live, you can justify things that are actually needed to actually live.

You don’t see very far ahead in your socialist/communist agenda, do you?

Toilet paper and soap are required because of health codes, I’m sure.

Only women have periods, this is why it’s up to the women to supply their own sanitary napkins.

Which isn’t that big of a fucking deal.

So…your argument is that because cis men don’t need them, they aren’t important to public health?

Didn’t say that, but why make everyone pay for something that only half the population uses?

And why is it a big deal?

Because it is important to public health. Because it is meant to help prevent the spread of bodily fluids, including vaginal mucus and menstrual blood, in public spaces.

Lol

I’ve never had a problem preventing that on my own.

It’s nothing to go to the store and buy two months or more worth of tampons and pads. I spend $10 every two or three months. It’s really not that difficult. I mean the Dollar Tree has a box of 8 for a dollar. Not that difficult to get them, and if you’re down and out I’m sure you can find a woman who has some to spare or will help you get some.

There are also panties that soak up the blood to where you don’t have to wear tampons and pads. There’s also the diva cup which, if you can use it, seems like a really good investment.

Feminists act like it’s so hard being a woman, and it’s not.

When will y’all accept that we aren’t the same as men and not all of us want special treatment?

I’m so glad that it’s never been a problem for you.

However. It does still happen sometimes, particularly for young girls and women who irregular cycles.

And, like, this isnt about “being the same” as cis men? I’m not demanding we install urinals in all the women’s restrooms. I’m saying that we should have menstruation products in restrooms (yes, even men’s restrooms for the trans guys who may need them) as a public health measure akin to hand soap and paper towels.

How about you just bring your own fucking products? That’d be like requiring businesses to have condoms in every male bathroom. Why on God’s green earth would we even write a law like that? Are you incapable of buying your own menstrual products? A business should have to accommodate for your lack of preparation? You’re all grown fuckin’ women, buy your own feminine products.

And, also, do you know how basic the hand soap and paper towels are? You really want a flimsy, shitty, industrial tampon or pad rubbing up against your intimate areas? Do you really want that? Or would you prefer the brand name that you should be buying your damn self anyway.

Honestly, shit like this does such a great disservice to what feminism used to be. From voting rights to free tampons, holy shit.

If menstruation products were required in all bathrooms like how soap and toilet paper are, I would not stop buying my own high quality ones for my personal use. But if I found myself in a situation where I needed one and did have one, the cheap shit is better than bleeding through your pants.

And this really isn’t a matter of being prepared. Because our concern here isn’t making sure everyone who menstruates is a responsible morally upright person. Our concern is taking concrete steps to improve public health.

And for the record, cis boys don’t get to complain about other people being accommodated for when urinals are common place.

Additionally in what universe is providing menstrual hygiene products in all restrooms in ANY WAY comparable to providing condoms in men’s restrooms?

Motherfuckers participating in an economy based on ~500 years of colonialism and slavery are mad about the “authoritarianism” of businesses providing cheap menstrual products.

You can live on stolen land policed by racist cops without making a stink, but making life a tiny bit easier for people who menstruate, THAT’S where you draw the line?

TBH putting condoms in restrooms might be a good idea too.
