I really don’t think you have a firm grasp of how sex work actually is. And you’re still inserting what seems to be a personal bias about it. To “abolish” sex work would lead to more dangers to sex workers than the other option of decriminalization would. Trying to dictate how somebody should feel about their work and saying that their work should not exist does not sound very feminist.

Actually if there was no sex work, there would be no sex workers to be harmed, because they’d just have other jobs. Nine out of ten prostitutes want out, are they too stupid to know what’s good for them? You thinking that sex is something that can and should be sold is what isn’t feminist here, my guy.

hey shoogs! that stat is from Melissa Farley who has been laughed and censured out of academia for her manipulative and blatantly made up research.

i know literally genuinely hundreds of sex workers. a lot of us hate it a lot of the time.

you know what we hate and fear more?

the violence of poverty.

the violence of being unable to afford healthcare.

the violence of being unable to afford food and shelter.

so your ideas on feminist?
are meaningless and out of touch.

by all means work to end capitalism, i’ll be right there with you and when capitalism is over i won’t be a whore anymore.

but until capitalism has been destroyed (and with it white supremacist imperialist patriarchy) ill taking care of myself by riding dick bc that is the only way I’m able to afford my rent, healthcare for my animals, food, gas for my car, and to take care of myself.

I’ve worked jobs for well over minimum wage–I’ve worked 40 hours a week for 15/hr, and i wasn’t able to cover rent and one bill. and my rent is now cheap for my city.

so until you have jobs that pay a TRUE living wage for all of us, your opinion on sex work and your idea that it isn’t work and that we shouldn’t be doing it? is totally meaningless.

Please.

respect us and help us stay safe and away from people who would take advantage of our legal vulnerabilities.

respect actual coerced and exploited workers by lobbying for greater protections for them, investigations into abusive companies (including agricultural ones! well over three times as many sexually exploited laborers are being exploited for agricultural work and there are very few penalties at all!) a living wage, health insurance, child care.

respect actual survivors by demanding real protections for vulnerable kids and adults in foster care and real sentences for people like Brock Turner and Casey Affleck.

respect yourself and do not parade and spread your ignorance around.

we can work together and accomplish much more, but only if you educate yourself.

nine out of ten minimum wage workers want out of minimum wage but i doubt u wanna abolish the minimum wage like why are people so stupid

intellectual laziness and internalised misogyny.

i’m so dumb.

i said “three times as many sexually exploited laborers are being exploited for agricultural work and there are very few penalties at all!”

i’m not TOTALLY sure that the construction of that is wrong, but to be very clear:

according to the most recent ILO research into trafficked people,
20 million people were trafficked for agricultural labour
around 8 million for domestic work
4 million for sexual work

the categories “agricultural” and “domestic” also obscure the fact that these workers are being sexually exploited too, PARTICULARLY nannies and maids, who don’t get counted as sex workers.

yet the agricultural lobby has made very certain that there are few to no penalties in the state of new york, for example, lobbying hard to keep the focus on the smaller category of sexual exploitation (which includes people like myself who aren’t actually being exploited by anyone but themselves, but technically legally are trafficked! i am both trafficking survivor and trafficker in one miraculous package!)

hey, before she blocks me and i can’t reblog this anymore, do you all mind doing me a solid and reblogging this? it has the correct ILO statistics broken down and my original reblog of hers i got it wrong bc math words confuse me.

thank you!

if even half of you reblog this we can get some real exposure!!!
