Quanice Hayes’ Mother Asks for a Federal Investigation Into “Execution-Style Murder of My Son”

The mayor of Portland is sad because last night when he came home, protestors were outside his house. // February 9th Quanice Hayes was murdered, execution style, on his knees. A shot to the head, and twice in his chest. His mother found out via Facebook about his death. While there were five officers there, only one thought deadly force was needed. And he’s killed before. They said Hayes was a dangerous robber, yet this isn’t grounds for murder. Our mayor said it was a “tragedy”, yet the officer was found not guilty // Don’t Shoot Portland have been trying to have the mayor and the police held accountable, especially since Ted Wheeler has run on the platform of community engagement and police reform. They have refused to listen, to hear. They have continually disregarded Hayes mother and the folks standing up for him. Enough. Black mothers deserve so much more than this.  (X)
