On the dissecting songs trend: I submit that the narrator of “Jesse’s Girl” is unsure if he’s in love with the girl, or with Jesse, himself. I mean, the girl doesn’t even get a name, while Jessie’s mentioned all the time, and the narrator spends way too many lines talking about how the girl gets to spend her night in Jessie’s arms.

NGL, for years I actually thought it was “I wish that I was Jesse’s Girl” and was just a super progressive song. 

I like to imagine that the narrator of “Come Dancing” grew up to be Lola.
