Further from this she seems to be incredibly popular within LGBT+ spaces in the UK and around Europe and has been booked for multiple pride events. Recently Durham Pride who have blocked multiple queer and LGBT+ black people who have questioned their booking of a blackface act. Durham pride claimed that the consulted a BME charity who said black face was ok with them. They are still yet to tell us which Black and Minority Ethnic charity this is.

Now the issue here is not with a white woman having a Beyoncé tribute act. The issue here is the cognitive dissonance in the use of black face to represent black womanhood through the guise of ‘celebrating’ female strength.

Dear white LGBT+ ally’s and white ally’s collectively. This is where you come in, his is where you need to educate your folk on the disrespectfulness and inherent racism behind these presentations.
