Ruby Bridges was the first African-American child to attend an all-white public elementary school in the American South.

And she STILL gets death threats today. She visited the school my sister works at and they weren’t even allowed to announce it to the parents or public the until AFTER she left. Only a select few members of the staff even knew she was coming. The “post racist society” in America is a MYTH. Sure we have made many steps forward but we still have a LONG way to go.
