The most frustrating thing about this Kevin Spacey situation is that homophobes will be using his crimes as fodder for their belief that gay men are predatory toward children. It is frustrating because most of his victims are probably themselves young gay men! Straight people will look at this and make it about themselves, when in fact this whole thing is part of an alarming trend pointing to how younger gay and bisexual men are preyed upon by older gay and bisexual men. 

In cases of straight men who are revealed to be abusive or predatory (Johnny Depp, Harvey Weinstein, etc), no one ever takes this as a sign that straight men can be predatory toward children. But every time a predatory person happens to be a gay man, it’s other gay and bi men who are thrown under the bus, even though they were the primary victims.
