There is almost nothing I hate more than people playing devil’s advocate when the other person is clearly a despicable human being. There doesn’t always need to be a devil’s advocate. It’s ok to just agree that evil things are evil.
In case there’s any confusion: there is no good reason for mass shootings. Nothing can justify the holocaust. Rape is wrong no matter how horny you are and the victim never deserved it. Nazism is inexcusable and a spit in the face for all Jews and those who died fighting in WWII. Not everything requires an argument. Sometimes there’s just absolutes in life and that’s ok.
Also (and I realize this is a comparatively minor quibble) it’s a misuse of the term — the “devil’s advocate” was originally supposed to do background checks on candidates for sainthood, to make sure no frauds got canonized.
