career goals: become a director so I can cast kiefer sutherland in my movies and save him from his own terrible career choices.

what happened here? what decision process went into taking this role? what made him think this was a good idea? why the mustache?

I … I don’t even know how to react to this. Did he take a vow never to star in anything with a bigger budget than a Lifetime movie? Did he lose a bet? Was some kind of dare involved?

I understand signing up to play an iconic character like William S. Burroughs. I don’t understand anything else about this.

I … I can’t, y’all.

Kiefer Sutherland once got so drunk he fought a Christmas tree and lost and let a friend of his get it on film while Kiefer was paying for a documentary on that guy’s band. This is the same actor who used to live like an OCD monk all the way through shooting on 24, then immediately go out and binge so hard they once had to put the second half of a particular season back by almost a month because he got into a bar fight and got his nose broken. This is dude who once told Rolling Stone that if they were going to go out drinking with him then they’d better make arrangements for somebody else to drive him home because him driving on a drinking night just wasn’t going to work: “No, that’d be baaaaad.” So what I’m saying is, much as I love Kiefer Sutherland, it possibly might’ve been the alcoholism that spurred these decisions, back when he didn’t have quite a (semi-)functional lid on it.

Didn’t his dad get kicked out of South House (one of the
mens’ residences) when he was going to Victoria College, U of T? You had to do
some pretty wild stuff to get kicked out of South House.
