A conservative Facebook group posted this and I found it pretty hilarious. Not because it’s wildly inaccurate. Not because they didn’t know that methadone isn’t always free. Not because they put “disease” in scare quotes. Not because they don’t realize what harm reduction is. Or that these needle programs save money in healthcare costs by slowing the spread of HIV, Hepatitis, etc .
I laughed because this is basically a plea for universal healthcare. They literally argued that diabetic supplies should be free. That sounds awesome! We could help both problems! We wouldn’t have to choose between them! Great idea, Mr. Conservative!
And if this conservative ever realizes they just made an amazing argument for why we should institute a socialist healthcare policy, I’m pretty sure they’d be like, “Wait, no. I just wanted to screw those damned junkies! Nooooooo! I didn’t mean to advocate for free medicine for those diabetic liberal snowflakes!”
Soon after, their republican logic chip would enter an infinite paradox loop, short circuit, cause major brain damage, and they would go into staggering debt paying for the indefinite hospital stay. All while those darn junkies treat their disease (minus the scare quotes).
