Do viruses count as parasites?

Yes especially now that we’re positive they qualify as the same “life” as the rest of us; it turns out viruses evolved from single-celled organisms, stripping down everything but their DNA and a simple capsule.

Oh here’s one article on viruses reconsidered as living things:

Our definition of “life” is kind of a shaky attempt to classify things to the best of our subjective ability anyway, but if viruses aren’t alive, then they are living things that evolved into non-living things but continue to perpetuate themselves, which is wild!

The existence of giant-size viruses that behave more like unicellular life kind of cemented their place as organisms.
