Yeah, that scene is supposed to be about how they’re both hella intimate and hella uncomfortable with each other… it’s SUPPOSED to be awkward.
Agree it was meant to be awkward and creepy. I like to think, though, that since Snoke was the one setting up their mindlinks he picked that moment because *he* though Rey ought to find it sexy, like “Yessss, no girl will be able to resist my Kylo with his shirt off!” and it just…. backfired spectacularly.
