This fantastic staircase was built for Orson Welles’ 1942 film The Magnificent Ambersons at the RKO Gower Stree Studios. The staircase stood as the centerpiece of the set, which was constructed like a real home, though the walls were able to be raised and lowered as needed in order to allow the camera to pass-through for long, continuous takes. The staircase, as well as other parts of the set, were used again in another 1942 film Cat People.  The stairs were used a third time in The Falcon in Danger.
