I’m seeing some….not so great reviews of “A Wrinkle in Time”.

I just hope that studios aren’t going to shy away from hiring female/POC directors because of this. Not every movie can be Black Panther. If you can keep giving chances to white, male directors, you can do the same for others.

As for me, I may wait for the DVD.

I’mma still watch it because I want to $upport, but in all honesty when I tried to read the book I was bored and confused and didn’t bother finishing it hahaha

The trailer just has me like: “Can’t wait to be confused while in awe of the visuals!”

Having seen it, I can say that the negative reviews are coming from a) people who have never read the book and b) people who have and are sticklers for 100% accuracy. If you’re a casual fan of the book, youll probaby enjoy it.

It’s a slow-burn movie, much more about Meg’s inner growth than the quest itself. And I think that people went into it thinking it’d be full of breathtaking action scenes, and there’s really only like… two of those maybe. It’s a much more cerebral movie.

It definitely hits all the major points of the book, but it does change some. I personally believe it’s more effective at catching the spirit and the soul of the book, rather than following events exactly.

The costumes are beautiful, the acting is always good. There are so many beautful messages in the movie, some of Oprah and Zack’s lines made me cry.

(plus i’m obviously not one to have this conversation, but Ava makes some very strong statements about black womanhood that I think are gonna be discussed in length on here).
