One thing that’s really come home to me lately is that of the people who signup to be organ donors, very few die in a way that will leave their organs useable (basically you need to die of massive stoke or head injury and be found while you’re still breathing, so you can be brain-dead but the rest of your body is still ok) — which is why they need as many people as possible to volunteer beforehand.
