no this is the perfect post to make that assertion on. the straws of flawed commitment

I know this is a very niche thing to say but Starbuck is such a Quaker, for both good and ill, with such a clear and loud conscience and such a confused decision-engine of a mind. Starbuck asks his meeting for some help discerning on the straws question but they get deadlocked between the environmental diehards and the disability activists and allies and he can’t come up with a better solution independently than stuffing a bunch of straws under the counter and lying about having them. Meanwhile Ahab, who does not and never has needed a straw, takes twenty of them and shouts that he’s disabled and Starbuck can’t sleep for the rest of the week because he feels so guilty about both the lies and the sea turtles that are undoubtedly going to choke on the straws Ahab will throw directly into the ocean.
