everytime im reading science fiction and they give some mcguffin a really dramatic or edgy name instead of a coldly clinical scientific name i remember that we named a 3.5" plutonium sphere used in nuclear testing in the late 40s the “demon core”
They didn’t call it that until it had already killed two guys with radiation in two separate incidents. Before that they called it “Rufus.”
