when is the cyberpunk genre gonna stop demonizing people who want or need bodily augmentation
because between disability and dysphoria i think almost every single person i know has a huge variety of valid reasons to get chromed the fuck up and yet all these shitty books and games are like ANYTHING SYNTHETIC WILL MAKE YOU EVIL AND CRAAAZY
It’s always framed as “cosmetic accessorizing for the silly rich” or “evil super solders” and never “holy shit I can navigate sidewalks now thank you for the robotic ankles, there goes my awful commute, I can get a better job now.”
I had a prof in college who was like “if you wear glasses, you’re basically a cyborg already” and I look forward to having the opportunity to further upgrade some day.
