prehistories:

sat through a lecture on paleolithic and neolithic culture and society and all i can think abt is how from as early as there have been anatomically modern humans (and even before in some cases) there is archaelogical evidence of gender and sexual variance, caring for the elderly and disabled, a drive to make art and music, a powerful affection for animals and each other, and a desire to learn as much as possible about the world as we can and yet people will still insist these things are not human nature and therefore unnatural, that the things we consider to be essentially human in nature are very recent in the span of our history or felt by only a rare few and not something integral to our humanity and success as a collective whole.

the more we study and analyse history the more we learn what it means to be human, all the good and all the bad, the closer we come to understanding that many things people have considered to be weaknesses of character, illnesses of the person, or meaningless in the face of our mortality are functionally necessary to our humanity and cannot be erased or ignored

wow this is so good… you are a Keeper of these Truths now, and you gotta tell them (also a fundamental feature of humanity)

Humans are social animals who tell stories, look after each other, and are generally open to new experiences. everything else is just a sticker on top of a complicated machine.

A review that turns into a rant.

I just watched Bravest Warriors.

Overall I really enjoyed it. Creative, funny, and weird. The animation is top notch and the voice acting is well done.

My only complaint is the “will they/won’t they” romantic plot. I know it’s common for teenagers to have that kind of drama, but I’m so tired of it in media.

Writers are so afraid of portraying couples that they keep their characters in romantic limbo forever. You can make couples interesting. You can make friends interesting. But trying to keep that “will they/won’t they” tension over multiple seasons is exhausting as a viewer. Build it up for a reasonable amount of time, then pay it off one way or the other and stick to it.

I’d also like to see more shows that advocate moving the eff on. And the value of dudes being friends with a girl without any romantic intentions. My life improved greatly once I learned those lessons.

I know moving on is difficult sometimes. But once I learned how emotionally beneficial it was to not pine over someone for a long period of time… I became the Move-on Master.

Not interested?
Never gonna be?
Great, let’s be friends.
Like, actual friends.
Where I don’t secretly hope one day you’ll do the sex with me.
A fulfilling friendship without any unrequited bullshit.

Learning to move on should be taught in high school. (And maybe depicted in cartoons!) I do think it is a skill that can be learned. It’s basically a coping strategy. It solves so many problems. Sometimes unrequited feelings can lead to creepy stalker behavior. Plus, you free up time to find someone who is actually interested. Maybe I would have found more special someones if I hadn’t waited around for people I never had a chance with anyway.

Move on, people!

DO IT!

DOOOO IT!

What was I talking about?

Oh, Bravest Warriors!

Neat show. Needs less romantic nonsense.

8/10 Froggies.

The 6TEEN reunion episode is just an ad telling teenagers to vote?

Wyatt just mentioned Trump???

THEY JUST SAID BITCH

JONSEY IS A TRUMP SUPPORTER????

link to the episode

i really cannot take this

WATCHING THIS WAS LIKE HAVING A STROKE DURING A FEVER DREAM

“in last year’s election wyatt cried” WHAT THE FUCK

That’s really weird since it’s a Canadian show
and I didn’t think it pretended to be set in the States. A lot of Canadian place-names
get thrown around – the actual city in which it’s set isn’t identified, afaik,
but since Calgary and Whistler appear to be close enough for long-weekend
trips, I’m guessing Edmonton, AB, which also does actually have a mall as large
as the one in the show.

its come to my attention that the threshold between what is yellow and what is orange is much closer to orange for me than other people. like. I describe this color as a yellow.

But people keep telling me its orange and I’m like no thats just…a warm yellow….like I think of this color as “golden” yellow in my mind. Like in my mind if jade and olive can both be green i see no reason why me considering this yellow is weird. We are all valid.

I don’t think OP is the odd one out here.
