Bound together by Fate! in the face of a rapidly encroaching holiday deadline.
There are NO rules–NO instructions to help them–only VAGUELY EXPRESSED biblical guidelines.
The only things they have on their side are
a bunch of disassembled sukkah parts!
standard hand tools!
and an hour and a half of useable daylight!!!
WILL? THEY? SUCCEED???
This reminds me — I saw a sign a few months back for a company that builds “gazebos and luxury sukkot,” and isn’t the latter sort of… missing the point?
Boat Place – my interpretation of a site of the Franklin expedition, found in 1859.
“The boat was partially out of her cradle upon the sledge, and lying in
such a position as to lead me to suppose it the effect of a violent
north-west gale. […] There was in the boat that which transfixed us
with awe, viz., portions of two human skeletons! One was that of a
slight young person; the other of a large, strongly-made, middle-aged
man. The former was found in the bow of the boat, but in too much
disturbed a state to enable [us] to judge whether the sufferer had died
there. […]
The other skeleton was in a somewhat more perfect state; it lay across
the boat, under the after-thwart, and was enveloped with cloths and
furs. This would seem to have been the survivor of the two men whose
remains were lying in the boat. Close beside it were found five watches;
and there were two double-barrelled guns — one barrel in each loaded
and cocked — standing muzzle upwards against the boat’s side.”

McClintock)
SPOILER: In Dan Simmon’s “The Terror”, it’s Hickey and Manson who end up in this boat.
Not only are you an extraordinarily talented artist, @iceboundterror, but you are also doing an amazing service for Franklin enthusiasts, and history buffs of all kinds, in bringing these real scenes to vivid life. Thank you!
hey there LGBTQ kids who are also Christian/Jewish! If you feel like you’re disobeying God, questioning your faith, or feel wrong and dirty for loving who you love, there’s this fantastic site I found today called hoperemains that accurately and thoroughly combs through scripture and its (many) mistranslations, validates your orientation, and basically let’s you know that you’re not pissing off God. It’s insanely thorough and after reading through every page on the entire site it’s super helpful. Go check it out!
hoperemains is completely from a Christian perspective, and not pluralistic or interfaith at all.
If you reblogged the first post from me please reblog this amendment so the Jewish peeps can access this resource too!
Trans Jewish kids, you can go to TransTorah as well!
Muslim LGBTQ kids, you can go to iamnotharaam! It’s run by a mod squad of different genders and orientations, and they take submissions from everybody!
