Maybe if you want to hipsterify cultus for Hermes, maybe we need some Herm stickers? Just basically disembodied penii that you can affix to important border points of your run. Serious old-school style.
I love both of these ideas and I think while I can’t justify just like, throwing disembodied penes everywhere, the herms of Rome often had wings, and I feel like I could fuse these ideas and make a…suggestive wing design. Yes.
Sam, just for you I had to look. Japanese Edo-era courier footrunners’ (hikyaku) personal god was a fox called Yojiro (both O’s are elongated when pronounced). He is so obscure there is no English language wiki page on him currently. Hipster enough for you?
OH MAN BUT THIS IS ALSO SO TEMPTING, SO OBSCURE AND FOXES ARE SO COOL….
Maybe a winged fox. Maybe I will INVENT a god of runners.
Hey Sam, I found this post in my drafts for some reason, and I gotta ask:
did you ever make those suggestive wings?
I can’t even remember what they would look like, at this point 😀 But if someone else wanted to they should feel free!
I love how all the “signs” of people lying are symptoms of adhd or autism because when I listen to people listing off these so called signs Im just like…cool so none of these people will ever trust what I say apparently lmao. Lemme just break down the ones that I do:
1. “Avoiding Eye Contact”
Autism. I hate eye contact
2. “Weird Ticks or Fiddling With Body”
Autism. I’m textile and I like to touch things
3. “Putting Objects Between You and Themself”
Autism. I don’t like people getting too close because I have a bubble and I hate being touched, breathed on, etc
4. “Weird Facial Expressions/Not Emoting Enough”
Autism. Emoting is something that i have to consciously do and sometimes I get tired
5. “Adding Unnecessary Details/Talking Too Long”
Autism and Adhd. I can get obsessive with small details, slip up and miss my cue to let someone else talk, and get too excited about something that seems unimportant to others
6. “Sudden Pauses/Trouble Remembering Detail”
Adhd. I can be on a roll with what Im saying and in the next second forget absolutely everything. Then I have to mentally back track to the beginning of the conversation- sometimes going as far as reexamining my surroundings- just to catch my train of thought again
7. “Answering a Question With a Question”
Autism. I feel like this one applies to many people who aren’t even on the spectrum but sometimes I just want to make sure I understand the question dude
8. “They Tell a Story That Keeps Changing”
Adhd. Sometimes I tell things drastically differently because I’ve gotten sick of telling it the exact same way, but the important details will stay the same
Girls in the Windows, New York City, 1960 —Ormond Gigli
•••
“In 1960, while a construction crew dismantled a row of brownstones right across from my own brownstone studio on East 58th Street, I was inspired to, somehow immortalize those buildings. I had the vision of 43 women in formal dress adorning the windows of the skeletal facade.
We had to work quickly to secure City permissions, arrange for models which included celebrities, the demolition supervisior’s wife (third floor, third from left), my own wife (second floor, far right), and also secure the Rolls Royce to be parked on the sidewalk. Careful planning was a necessity as the photography had to be accomplished during the workers’ lunch time!
The day before the buildings were razed, the 43 women appeared in their finest attire, went into the buildings, climbed the old stairs, and took their places in the windows. I was set up on my fire escape across the streeet, directing the scene, with bullhorn in hand. Of course I was concerned for the Models’ safety, as some were daring enough to pose out on the crumbling sills.
The photography came off as planned. What had seemed to some as too dangerous or difficult to accomplish, became my fantasy fulfilled, and my most memorable self – assigned photograph. It has been an international award winner ever since.
Is the photographer counting the ground floor as the first floor or is he doing no the thing where the First Floor is the floor above the ground floor? Also, Disney’s Snow White is apparently in the far left window on the top floor.
This, my friend, is a post-Lear fic about Edgar (my sweet boy) and how he copes with being forced onto the throne of a divided kingdom, haunted by his dead and perhaps also by the foul fiend Flibbertigibbet, who walks by night.
