Fucking TRUTH
she got windwaker-zelda’d hard
It’s my father’s theory that Anakin is so powerful in the force that he uses it subconsciously. He set out to obtain Amidala, and accidentally wound up completely subsuming her. That her wants and needs were slowly overwritten with his force-powers, like a Jedi Mind Trick writ large.
Mostly it comes from her line near the end of Episode II where she says “I’ve been
dying a little bit each day since
you came back into my life.“ My dad never really found that romantic and found it creepy more than anything else, and now basically uses that as the foundation of his theory. That she – as in, the person that she is, not her physical being – is literally dying a little bit more as she’s exposed more to Anakin. If you add The Clone Wars to this theory, it makes even more sense, as we Padme struggling frequently against Anakin [Clovis comes immediately to mind, but it wasn’t their only spat], until the Rise of Clovis arc, where she finally completely falls and basically says “I’ll never leave your side again.” All of The Clone Wars is Padme struggling against his long-term subconscious Jedi Mind Trick, because he’s away at war. With his absence, it’s easier for her to come to her senses, until he shows up again. So she swings back and forth during The Clone Wars until her free will is finally completely subsumed at the end, and we see her as the crying, docile mess in Episode III.
