I have an interest in propaganda imagery in general, but these are just such a fucking trip I had to share. Kiyochika was apparently influenced stylistically by Western painting but I think given the whales in suits, anthropomorphic battleships, and crazy fish-battleship-hoarding octopus, we can safely say that he had a truly original vision to share with the world.
