Stopfkuchen (1891), Wilhelm Raabe. I’m really starting to wish I could find other people who’ve read this so I could continue with the jokey description.

So, apparently I enjoyed Tubby Schaumann/Stopfkuchen enough to do fanart, though I really wish I could draw in more of an animation style for these characters. Anyway, here’s Valentina and Tubby having breakfast. I don’t know the name of their cat and dog because (glares at Edward, the narrator) someone couldn’t be bothered to ask.
