This isn’t my original thought.  Other people have touched on the subject far more eloquently than I.  HOWEVER.  I might as well say it on tumblr dot com.  As serious and horrifying as the idea of a Trump presidency is–not because of the man himself, but because his presidency would insinuate that a not-insignificant number of Americans agree with him– people who aren’t being immediately persecuted should stay in America.  Others who don’t have the luxury of moving need all the help they can get.  If all the not-Muslim, not-Latino, not-white, not-authoritarian folks leave America, we’re also leaving vulnerable populations defenseless.  There are rarely times when we can put our privilege to work for others.  I feel like this is one of those times.

That said I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t seriously contemplating using my dual EU citizenship for ‘getting away from the fascist yam’ purposes.  And I would not begrudge anyone for getting out of here ASAP.

This isn’t directed at anyone in particular.  It’s been on my mind for a few weeks and like at least 20 individual people on my dash have expressed similar sentiments.

ETA: people who can’t afford to move are not the people I’m addressing here, sorry if this was unclear!
