Not liking how I personally look is different from not liking #HospitalGlam. This project has gone so far beyond me+I love it.That was the point.
My personal representation (high femme; I like a dress. Been this way since I was 3.) is not the only way to engage in #HospitalGlam. Some of the strongest images contributed to the project are about as far from my look as one can get, and they’re incredible. If you dig through the tag or the tumblr, you will see a variety of non-conformingly gorgeous people taking up space in their hospital rooms and doctor’s offices. This project is about many things, but embracing your bodily autonomy to improve your treatment is probably the most important. Look however you feel comfortable, but take up space and work with your care providers on equal footing. Your voice is important and contributes to the quality of your health care.
