Hello Arabelle – I’ve got a kind of niche question for you but I just think you’ll have an answer. Can you suggest any books or essays on leaving home, or the concept of ‘home’? I’ve been thinking about how the process of leaving a place to live in another leaves you feeling dichotomised in some ways and know this is a common feeling for people living between places or for those who travel a lot and I’d love to read someone else thoughts on this. Thank you, lots of love

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Too Much and Not the Mood, Durga Chew-Bose (hehe)

Bhanu’s books are good for diaspora and language conversations, Ban en Banlieue and Humanimal in particular.

This is also left field but there’s two YA book series I love I revisit: Young Wizards, and Lunar Chronicles. Leaving home might as well mean leaving the universe sometimes, but you can always find home on the way, you know? Speculative fiction is diasporic adventure. Revisit Octavia Butler.
