What really worries me is that out of all the stuff I’ve read with people panicking about little girls liking princesses too much

is that no one is more concerned with the endorsement of monarchy than with the endorsement of poofy dresses.  Personally I am far more concerned about the marketing of monarchy than I am about the marketing of poofy dresses.

Why can’t we have the Lucy and Albert Parson’s movie instead?

idk i thought people thought the princess stuff was problematic because it encouraged passivity and dependence on dudes

(which is weird b/c none of my floofy dress fantasies as a child had anything to do with dudes, but it might be different for other women idk)

also agreed re: lucy parsons disney movie

Yeah, years ago I saw a thread asking “why are we encouraging girls to be princesses and not queens?” and a number of commenters pointing out that many countries used to be principalities, i.e. ruled by princes or princesses, and the title didn’t actually mean less power or responsibility, and I kept waiting for someone to post about how monarchy is a bad system anyway, but no one did.
