Standing up for myself is hard. A guy in our lab thinks I cleaned his desk without permission (???) and I’m mildly terrified of his disapproval, to the point I lied to him once before (it was an obvious lie and I immediately apologized after). He stared at me pointedly, expecting me to admit to my desk crimes. That’s what happens when you lie– people don’t trust you. And that’s totally reasonable, but. By the end of his staring I was trying to convince myself I actually did the crimes, even though the day the cleaning took place, I spent all afternoon doing extractions, and I never go into his office unless he’s there.

I still am queasy from it tbh.
